Welcome to Abbey Wood Therapy
About Abbey Wood Therapy
The aim of psychoanalytic therapy is to help you to tell your own story and articulate your truth. Feeling comfortable to speak freely with your therapist is essential to the outcome of the therapy. I am able to provide a safe and confidential space for you to voice your thoughts, fears, or concerns.
About You
Do you want to talk to someone impartial about your difficulties? If you feel stuck in your life, psychoanalytic psychotherapy will help you to bring about change. I believe everyone should be listened to especially when experiencing emotional distress.
How Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy can help
- I see therapy as a journey of self-discovery, in which you recognise your needs and your sources of suffering, figuring out a way to navigate between them in your life.
- Psychoanalytic psychotherapy is especially helpful for working at a deep level or with complex issues. This means looking not only at a specific symptom but understanding the issue in the context of your childhood, analysing both present and past difficulties.
- Psychotherapy can help with issues ranging from everyday struggles, emotional difficulties, to more serious matters such as trauma, abuse or altered consciousness states.
About Laurentiu
I have experience working with people dealing with depression, anxiety, various forms of trauma or PTSD, as well as broader questions around identity, sexuality and relationship issues.
I am interested in a reflective approach to the meaning of life in addition to questions around human suffering, drawing on many years of studying philosophy and psychoanalysis.
How we work together
The way I work is primarily to provide a reliable space where you can explore your emotional response to your experiences. Your emotional response can be ambivalent at times, or you might be unaware of it.
I believe you are the expert when it comes to your own life. That is why working psychoanalytically focuses more on the question rather than giving advice or providing ready-made answers.
Looking at dreams and other unconscious phenomena is also part of the therapeutic process.
Getting started with Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
If you have any questions or you are thinking of starting therapy, feel free to get in touch via email or phone. You will usually get a reply within 24 hours to arrange a time to meet that is mutually convenient.
During our initial consultation you can ask any questions and you can get an idea about what it will be like for us to work together.
Psychotherapy Fees
I operate a sliding scale depending on your circumstances, with some lower fee spaces available.
Sessions run for 50 minutes and they begin and end on time.
